Kill la Kill Episode 2 And I Am Irritated

Kill la kill episode 2

Hello one hello all and welcome to Animecrit / Anime360, and today we are tackling episode 2 of kill la kill let’s see how it goes.

The Introduction

Okay, so I have started the anime for those who cannot tell by now this is “A live blog” So what I do is review the show while watching.
So, Ryūko Matoi Has just defeated Takaharu Fukuroda in a boxing match who happens to be her first opponent in this show so far as she goes on a quest to seek out revenge on her father’s killer and basically challenged Satsuki Kiryūin (The Student Council President and main antagonist in this show) who I think is the complete bad ass of this show so far. At least that’s what I have gotten out of the story so far and for all this anime’s flaws the most notable one being the suspect art, I have got to say I really am enjoying the music.

First part of the episode

So Ryūko get molested/raped in the beginning of this episode by some fat guy who happeneds to be her best friends dad, we got scenes of dogs having sex on roofs, teachers stripping students but naked and taking them home, more sexual subliminal messaging and I have come to the realization that this is one of the most perverted anime I have ever watched, even Green Green has got nothing on it hahaha.
So basically nothing significant has happened through the first part of this anime it looks like the Student Council has sent another opponent after Ryūko in order to defeat her, she got beaten at first (cliché) due to the fact that she couldn’t put on her suit and she ends up naked in her teachers house after he saves her I guess, so now she is probably going back to fight this new opponent and she probably is going to win (cliché) After something that she didn’t know is going to be reviled to her( so Cliché) .

Last part and my conclusion.

As Predicted, all that cliché crap happened in the second part of this episode, and as I get into this anime I can’t help but think that it is not a real show but it may be a parody of something.
Something else has come to my attention and that is that this anime is a
Category: Magical girl anime, I have not seen one of these in years and the reason being I hate this category of anime maybe that’s why Kill la Kill sucks so much to me.

Note: This category is for anime and manga series concerning supernatural girls and/or boys who must deal with everyday life while being able to do extraordinary things with their powers.

Well thanks for reading this second part of my blog hope you guys enjoyed it and please don’t forget to follow me on the various social networking sites to keep up with my blog, there are buttons all over this page to make it easier for you and please criticize the blog to your content.

Kill la Kill Episode 1

Kill la Kill Episode 1 (Lord help me)

Hello everyone out there and welcome to another post by yours truly, Dante Carter and today we will be reviewing episode one of Kill la Kill and if you have read my previous posts you will know that this is difficult for me, but I have to do it and I am going to try to keep these posts as short and to the point as possible.
I will be doing a full review of the anime as soon as I’ve gone through it…
So is Kill la Kill “the saviour  of anime”
Let’s go find out…

The Intro

Okay, so I have just got passed the first 4 min which is basically the intro of the show and I haven’t got the slightest clue as to what this “anime” something to do with Hitler fascism and a student council president all I know is like some kid got beat up really badly and stripped naked and he is still alive, like wtf?.
The art style is very interesting though (sarcasm) I would really like to see where they are going with this.

Halfway through

Hahaha So I am half way through the first episode and I have just one word WTF?
We have just been introduced to the main character Ryuko Matoi who I find interesting due to the fact that she is a breath of fresh air when it comes to female main characters in anime and she has just fought some boxer and lost…. And ran away, just the way that whole scene played out was hilarious to me to say the least, but I still can’t get over this art style.
It feels like they hired some lazy people who just don’t give a shit, and they came up with this production with colors and scenes that seem to be rushed. It feels like they took the original manga through it into a blender and recorded that shit and expect us to gobble it up.
But on a positive note, I’m really glad the guy that got beaten to death actually died and this has just become an anime again (see Anime vs Cartoon blog).

Done and dusted

So I have finally finished the first episode of kill la kill and I think I have a greater understanding of what is going on.
Ryuko Matoi gets raped by a uniform, strips naked, strips a guy naked then kills him and of cause fan service what would main stream anime be without it. Now, despite my earlier criticism of this show I do believe it is an anime and I can’t help but get irritated by the feel of the show, it kind of feels like it's trying to be everything at once at least in this first episode.
Altleast we do have an idea of a storyline what little of it they may be.

But anyway see you guys in episode 2

ANIME VS CARTOON

ANIME VS CARTOON

Okay so I know my next post was supposed to be a KillaKill Review and it was supposed to come much earlier than this one but Like I posted on twitter, if you do follow me @ANIMECarter I have been trying to sit through one episode of killakill and I cannot for the life of me do it. It’s like the show has no direction what so ever and the only people who could enjoy this crap are 12 years Old’s that have brains the size of a walrus nut …. But enough of that I have a plan on how I am going to tackle it I am goinf to watch it episode by episode and review it episode by episode so I am excited on how that is actually going to go.

But today I will be tackling a contentious argument in the anime community, one that has plagued us since the first anime hit hours screens back in 18….. I have no idea, A LONG TIME AGO. And one that has claimed many lives among vivid anime watchers who follow anime religiously the subject or topic I speak about is about Anime as a whole and how it differs from cartoons if there is a difference at all.

Art Styles.

Now there is a huge difference between anime and cartoons and it is not the one you guys hear all the time that states that “Cartoons are made in USA and anime is Made in Japan” that is horse shit, On a serious level though that is the worst separation or segregation of the two genres that I have ever heard in my life and as a student that once majored in art I think I speak for all artists at least in saying that the two art styles are light-years apart from each other and it is a disgrace to be confused by  the art styles of anime and cartoons.

In fact it is a crime in some circles to call cartoons art due to the fact that almost everyone in the world can draw a cartoon and it takes little to no effort or imagination what so ever to create one that’s why carton appeal to children in particular.

Attributes.

Cartoons tend to be orientated more towards children although you do get your exceptions like South Park, The Simpsons and Family Guy which are basically adult entertainment.
Anime is not for children and tends to attract a broader audience starting from late teens all the way towards middle aged adults.
Try doing this experiment at home if you don’t believe me… Put your 4-14 year old brother or sister in front of a TV playing full metal alchemist, Steins Gate, Attack on Titan or even Naruto and see how long they remain seated, now turn to cartoon network and call them back, wait a few minutes and try change the channel, it will become a big problem and soon enough all hell will break loss.

Cinematography is something anime has that cartoons do not due to the fact that anime is taken seriously in Japan and they really incorporate camera angles and all types of visual effect to really bring anime as close to reality as possible and actually immerse the viewer into an environment that makes it feel even more real than “real life movies” you watch on TV.

Anime Means Cartoon Theory.

AHhh then there is this theory that anime haters love to throw around that: “In Japan there is no difference between anime and cartoon and anime means cartoon in Japanese Blah Blah Blah “
Okay firstly let me give you the definition of anime:
Anime
ˈanɪmeɪ,ˈanɪmə/
Noun
A style of Japanese art film and television animation, typically aimed at adults

Now cartoon Definition states;
Cartoon
Kɑːˈtuːn/Submit
Noun
1.
A simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way, especially a satirical one in a newspaper or magazine or Television show.
"The minister faced a welter of hostile headlines and mocking cartoons"
Synonyms:          caricature, parody, lampoon, satire, travesty; more

Now if you believe that those two definitions are the same please leave this blog, just leave now because you are an idiot that needs to go back to school and you just have a vendetta against anime and anything that I say won’t change your mind and you probably need to get shot.
Even in Japan there is a difference just like in japan Avatar The movie is also categorized as Anime, or even Riddick would be categorized as sifi anime. Now most of you guys that are fans of those movies would be disheartened if some  called them cartoons even though 80% of their runtime is animated  in fact some episodes in game of thrones are 85% CGI and Animated why don’t we call that a cartoon or better yet even anime ? .
But people fail to understand things are also sub categorized in Japan for example in to Anime - Shonen/Shojo/Seinen to name a few.  Shonen Being the thin line between anime and cartoon and where the confusion might come from in fact I don’t even believe the thin line is drawn at the Shonen level I can go an extra step and say that thin line is drawn at  Long running Shonen, yes I am talking to you Naruto, Bleach and fairy Tale fans. Those types of anime tend to lean towards the cartoon side of the spectrum and you will see why later in my Pillars of anime segment.

Pillars of Anime

Now for something to be Anime it need Pillars and hear are just a few that I can think of the top of my head.

Storyline/Plot

It needs a good storyline or plot even if the show tends to have episodic stories it need a main overall story to piece everything together having the same aspects you would have in a real life tale ( and that’s why I have a problem with Pokémon like wtf ? what is the plot ? )

Character Development

Usually anime has characters that you can relate with and you get to watch them grow overtime and anime is unique because it pushes the boundaries of character development making it new and fresh every year (now when characters have no development what so ever it really becomes a problem making it a cartoon as in a cartoon there are no lessons and the character remains constant almost like he/she is resetting every episode I’m TALKING TO YOU FAIRY TALE FANS)

Death

Death is a very strong subject in anime and the premise of it is that life happens and people die, in anime if you get blown up there is no unexplained return from the dead for the character the character dies and that’s it get over it ( Now cartoons don’t die it’s like they have a cheat code for life if a character gets blown into six million pieces I’m sorry that person is dead and cannot come back to life unless you know of someone that has done this miracle personally it is a cartoon Yes Dragon ball z fans this is for you and Fairytale)

Deeper meaning

Usually anime has a deeper meaning to it or even the symbolism to the story most of the time it carries a lesson to it that you can Apply to life now if it just some brainless, no point to it, mocking about. Its most likely a cartoon ( KillaKill fans)

Art Style

Let’s not get it twisted Cartoons are not art they are scribbles put on a paper that even a Pentium2 Cpu can create with no problem, Anime has a very unique art and movement style at times making it almost real, the flow of movement is very smooth and keeps evolving as time and the technology becomes better

Conclusion

Anime does not mean made in Japan even though 99% of the time it does come from Japan, because if it did what do you do with the boondocks by Aaron McGruder yes it is anime, it is one of the only anime series I have seen come out of America excluding avatar the last air bender which started off in life as an anime then changed to cartoon.
Dbz fans sorry to burst your bubble but when the American’s took over Dbz it became a cartoon.
And in my book here are some anime walking a very thin line in becoming cartoons
1.       Fairytale
2.       Pokémon
3.       Digimon
4.       One piece (I haven’t watched it but from what anime fans tell me )
5.       KillaKill

And on the other side cartoons that walk the line of becoming anime

1.       Futurama
2.       The Simpsons
3.       Adventure Time ( believe it or not)
4.       Avatar last air bender (even though it was an anime)
5.       That’s all I can think of

Tokyo Ghoul (but is it worth it ?)

Tokyo Ghoul

Gooday to all my good people, I have missed you all. no like really it’s been a while since my last post and I am ashamed about that fact…

But today I may have something that just might make it up to you. A review of an anime that just might be a tad overhyped and needs to be shot down by yours truly, now I say this because in the past certain anime get released that people (who claim they got the anime ghost) fall head over heels for and run to the hill tops of the internet screaming the messiah of anime has arrived and it is heavenly, just to find out later that that anime was complete sh*t.
#SEESWORDARTONLINE

Now for Tokyo Ghoul… you know I have to give this anime the benefit of the doubt well season one at least because I haven’t been able to watch season two yet due to a very bad year called 2015 not just for me but for anime as a whole and I will get into that later with my review of Killa kill when I can get around to try and stomach the rest of that crap.
Now back to what I was saying: I really have to give Tokyo Ghoul the benefit of the doubt because I came into this anime really hoping the worst but it kind of surprised me and in fact I only have a few if not one thing to complain about in this show but let’s get to the review.

Plot

“The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who barely survives a deadly encounter with Rize Kamishiro, his date who reveals herself as a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh, and is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovering, Kaneki discovers that somehow he underwent a surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul by transferring some of Rize's organs into his body, as she died when she attacked him, and just like them, he must consume human flesh to survive as well. With no one else to turn to, he is taken in by the ghouls who manage the coffee shop "Anteiku", who teach him to deal with his new life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans.”

As per Wikipedia of cause but I believe the plot is much more than just that or any other summery you will find on any other site.
The Plot starts off with Kaneki almost being eaten by some chic he wanted to bone but then shit happens she dies they take her organs, put them into Kaneki in essence making him half human half ghoul, but possessed by the hot chic that wanted to eat him.
Then he goes through normal life as per Wikipedia says, blah blah blah …
Now the plot has many twists and turns in it which really make it interesting without being to cliché at the same time. I really liked that there is no bad and good in Tokyo ghoul and they take you on an emotional roller-coaster of who you hate and love for example you start by hating the ghouls because they want to eat Kaneki then you start hating the humans because they want to kill the ghouls then you start hating the ghoul… and it just goes on and on and on like it got to a point where you like “ oh man screw you  Touka for killing the main villain what did he ever do to you” but that’s what makes Tokyo ghoul unique if not one of the reasons.
The only complaint I would have in regards to the plot is character development which seems to be lackin throughout the season in Kaneki all though miraculously they made him develop 10 fold in one episode, I kid you not in just one episode Kaneki gained all his character development … it took naruto 500 of them.

But overall I would rate the plot a 8.5/10

Sound

Tokyo ghoul has the best music I’ve ever heard in any anime ever, I kept waiting for the next episode to start just so I could listen to the opening and even the ending

Rating 10/10

Animation

The overall animation is very modern and if I can say so has a brilliant art style my favorite scene from the anime is when Touka (the main female character) takes on that French guy in the church the overall art in that scene is brilliant especially the ending where Kimi (the girl that was supposed to be eaten) calls Touka pretty. The scene was really deep and beautiful.
I would give the overall anime 9/10

In conclusion

Tokyo Ghoul is a really great show and I highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking the next great thing to watch in the anime genre of cause even though the plot can slow down to a complete crawl at times, the main character is irritating in the beginning and the overall the show isn’t satisfying

I would recommend it stamp it with my good stamp (which everyone knows isn’t that easy to get)

Rating 8.7/10
Just for the first season though
